Thomas A. DeChristopher, age 79, of York, passed away on February 3, 2025 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Lamprecht) DeChristopher; together they shared 56 years of marriage.
Thomas was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 28, 1945 and was the son of the late Anthony and Madeline (Simone) DeChristopher. He graduated from LaSalle College in Philadelphia and served 31 years as a chemistry and general science teacher at Upper Moreland High School, York County School of Technology, and William Penn Senior High School. Thomas also enjoyed playing golf, volunteering at Our Daily Bread in York, and working on their family sheep farm.
In addition to his loving wife Barbara, Thomas is survived by his six children Linda Hartenstine and husband Grant, David DeChristopher and wife Diane, Lisa Ovelman and husband John, Steven DeChristopher and wife Ali, Michael DeChristopher and wife Katie, and Joseph DeChristopher and wife Kathryn; sixteen grandchildren; his sisters Anne Fallon and husband Jimmy, and Maria Lopez; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson Thomas Hartenstine; and his sister Carole McNally.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Thomas' life will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00AM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of East York, 3670 E. Market St., York, PA 17402 with Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant Donna Hoffman officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 10:00AM – 11:00AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Thomas' memory may be made to Our Daily Bread, PO BOX 548, York, PA 17401.
