Tom “Doc” McAtee, 62, soared high unexpectedly on June 7, 2025 and was embraced by his parents Richard and Jodi (Rapella) McAtee. Tom was born on November 9, 1962, in Oxnard, CA. Tom first saw Brenda McAtee at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA and told everyone, “I’m going to marry her.” Within four months he proposed, and they shared 36 beautiful years together as husband and wife. Together they raised four children: Nick, Cali, Andrea, and Chrissy. His wife and children remember him as an amazing storyteller with the best sense of humor. They will miss his bear hugs, butterfly kisses, and boundless love.
Tom was the type of person who would help anyone in need and was a friend to all who met him. His laugh and vivacious spirit lit up every room he walked into. Tom enjoyed riding his motorcycle and went on multiple cross-country trips with Brenda, from Niagara Falls to California. He loved taking in the scenery at the lakehouse and spotting wildlife, especially the Bald Eagles. Tom loved all things sports and could often be found with his phone propped up watching a game. Tom was very proud of his important work helping his community as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Fond du Lac. Tom always said he had a great life, and was cherished and loved deeply by family and friends.
Tom is survived by his wife Brenda, and his children Nicholas (Shannon), Cali (Brandon), Andrea (Daniel), and Christine McAtee. He is further survived by his siblings Rick McAtee, Mary (Bill) French, Shay McAtee, John (Arnel) McAtee, Mark McAtee, Kevin (Kim) McAtee, and David (Shirley) McAtee, all of California; his mother-in-law Louise Severson, brother-in-law David (Lisa) Severson, and sisters-in-law Debbie (Randy) Raasch and Patti (Terry) McMahon, all of Wisconsin; his dearest uncle David Rapella, and all extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his father-in-law Donald Severson and brother-in-law Gary (Kathie) Severson.
The family would like to thank the Campbellsport and Fond du Lac County Fire Departments, Travis Dowland with Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Department, and Lakehouse neighbors Don and Mike.
