Cuyler McAtee Obituary
Cuyler R. McAtee, age 76, of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away on June 28, 2025, at Diversicare of Council Grove.
Born on December 15, 1948, in Council Grove to Ralph and Naomi (Nichols) McAtee, Cuyler was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Council Grove High School in 1967 and went on to attend Iowa Technical Institute.
In 1971, Cuyler began a long and fulfilling career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad—later Union Pacific—as a brakeman. Over the years, he advanced to engineer and conductor, proudly dedicating 43 years to the railroad before his retirement.
Cuyler married Janet Campmire, and together they had one daughter, Kilynn. They later divorced. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including fishing, hunting, and watching wildlife from his backyard. He was also an avid Kansas State University fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Kilynn; sister Debra Levin (Steve); brother Hal McAtee; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
