Thomas Emge Obituary
Thomas Ray Emge, 91, of Newburgh, IN passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024. He was born on August 13, 1932, to the late Quentin and Mary Lois (Mitchell) Emge in Evansville IN.
He graduated from Schlarman Academy High School in Danville Il. He served in the United States Navy on the USS PC 1170-END3 overseas during the Korean War. Tom graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Evansville College (U of E). He worked for Whirlpool Corporation in Wisconsin, GE in Owensboro Ky and finally Faultless Caster in Evansville IN.Tom was a dedicated volunteer. He designed and built the old pipe organ at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church years ago. He was the former Choir Director at the church. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, St Vincent De Paul and was a member of the Men’s Club.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Bernice M. (Weiss) Emge in 2022 and his siblings Jim and Jynelle.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Emge, Daryl Emge, Mark Emge, Michael (Kate) Emge, Daniel (Chris) Emge, Sharon (Brad) Rizen, and LaDonna (David) Sidenbender; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, brothers, John, Jerry, Chris, Frank Emge.
Visitation will be held from 3-7on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Titzer Funeral Home, Simpson Chapel, 510 W Jennings St., in Newburgh, IN. 47630, (812) 853-8314. Visitation will also take place at St. John the Baptist Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh Indiana on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. A mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at St John the Baptist Church, with Rev. Father Claude (Dusty) Burns presiding. . Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Evansville at 2:30 p.m., with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Kappenman Post 44, Newburgh honor guard.
