Thomas D. Everman, 89, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025. He was a long time resident of Indianapolis.
He was born September 27, 1935 in Indianapolis to Thomas A. and Delphia Floyd Everman. He attended Manual High School where he was actively involved in ROTC, before graduating from Arsenal Technical High School in 1954. He earned his Associate degree from Indiana Central College, now the University of Indianapolis.
Tom joined the U.S. Marine Corps in September 1954 along with five other buddies and was honorably discharged in 1957.
While stationed in San Diego, he married his first wife Mona Lehr and together they had 4 children. Danny, Pamela, Cindy and Chuck. They were married for 19 years.
Tom married Debbie Burgett Barnes on February 18, 1978 and spent the next 47 years making wonderful memories with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Deborah Everman of Indianapolis; daughter, Cynthia Bennett of Indianapolis; sons, Charles "Chuck" Everman of Greenwood and Brian Barnes of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Cindy Everman; Sister-in-Law Rita Burgett; four granddaughters, Heather House (Paul Plummer), Leah (Neil) Van Trees, Lindsey (Jacob) Morris; and Danielle (Kevin) Campbell; and twelve beautiful great-grandchildren: Lainey, Connor, Jack, Evalyn, Eleanor, Hayden, Charlie, Nolan, Emmett, Madalyn, Grayson, and Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Everman; and son, Danny Everman along with Father and Mother In-law Paul and Mary Burgett and Brother-in-Law Larry Burgett.
After his service in the Marines, Tom was employed by UniRoyal in Indianapolis for 21 years, Indianapolis Rubber Company for 4 years and Pneu Tech Rubber Company for 4 years, in which he served as President. After the final plant closed, he was employed by Alsop Industrial Services buying, selling and refurbishing used rubber equipment until his retirement at the age of 67.
He was a Past Master of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge #398, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Antelope Club and the Murat Shrine. He enjoyed volunteering at the Indiana State Fair food tent for the Shriners Hospital transportation fund.
Visitation hours will be from 1:00-3:00 PM, Friday, March 7, at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood. A Masonic Service will be conducted by Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge #398 at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 7, with traditional services to follow.
The family sincerely appreciates the care provided by hospice nurse Jean Kennedy and Chaplain Cathy Blanchard.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Murat Shrine, 510 N. New Jersey Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
