Frankfort - Thomas (Tom) Edward Filicky Sr., 87, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
Tom is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former, Susan Barbara Mihalko, his three children, Jackie (Jeff) Wyatt of Frankfort KY, Thomas E (Cristina) Filicky Jr. of Chicago IL and John J Filicky of Lexington KY; one brother, Karl D (Katie) Filicky of Knoxville, TN; five grandsons, Matthew, Brian, Grant, Samuel, and Jacob; and three great-grandsons, Nolan, Colby, and Gavin.
Tom was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew M. Filicky and Robert Filicky, and a sister-in-law, Florence Filicky.
Tom was born on November 8, 1937, in Boardman, Ohio, the youngest of four sons born to Joseph John and Katherine (Reigrut) Filicky. He was raised in the Youngstown area and graduated from Boardman High School in 1955. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving from 1956-1958, stationed at Parris Island, SC and Hawaii. He and his family moved to Richmond, Ky in 1972. In 2001, he and his wife Susan moved to Frankfort, KY to be nearer to family.
In his younger years, Tom worked as a caddie at the Mill Creek Golf Course and stocked shelves at the A&P. He started working for Ajax Magnethermic Corporation while living in Ohio and was later transferred to the Richmond Ky plant where he retired as the Manufacturing Manager of Electronic Controls.
Tom enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He also loved growing vegetables in his garden and working in his yard. In his later years, Tom enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be his sons and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation or Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
