Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kyger Funeral Home - Harrisonburg on Feb. 25, 2026.
Thomas Norwood "Tommy" Frye, 76, of McGaheysville, VA and formerly of New Market, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Frye was born on May 18, 1949 in Page County, VA and was the son of the late Berlin Norwood "Buzz" Frye and Dollie Margaret Dodson Frye.

Tommy loved to spend time with his grandchildren and cherished every single minute he had with them. They were his pride and joy and he was their "Pappy". They were always playing tricks on each other. He loved the beach and vacationing at the Outer Banks. Tommy found great joy in helping others and volunteering his time. He was a very thoughtful and loving man who lived a colorful life.

On July 26, 1980, he married the former Jackie Sue Miller, who survives.

Surviving family members in addition to his wife of 45 years, is his daughter, Shelley Nebgen and husband, Jim and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nebgen and James Nebgen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, William "Bill" Frye, Jackie "Joe" Frye, Charles "Charlie" Frye and Dwight "Ike" Frye and one sister, Margaret "Nook" Frye.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Mt. Jackson Cemetery with Steve Povlish officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made in Tommy's name to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 5983 Main Street, Mt. Jackson, VA 22842.
