Also survived by his loving sons, Brian Thomas Gierl of Pittsburgh and Daniel Joseph (Nancy) Gierl of McCandless Township; proud and loving grandfather to Mason & Alexander Gierl.
Tom was a devoted husband, father, pap-pap, and friend to all. No one who met Tom forgot his lively personality. He had a passion for boating, golf, and softball. He was a member of the Golden Eagles, the VFW, and the American Legion. Tom was a 9th Division Army Veteran of Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He will be deeply missed by all.
Friends received Monday 1- 3 pm & 6 - 8 pm at Simons Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Highway, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM.
Contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
