It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Burl Gruber, known to many as Tom. He was born on May 25, 1955, in Van Nuys, California, and passed away on August 24, 2025, in Redwood City, California.
Tom was a dedicated husband to Debra Gruber and a loving father to his son, Kevin. He was a cherished member of his family, survived by his siblings Ken, Bonnie, Elizabeth, and Charles. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Gerald. Tom was the beloved son of Shirley and Jack.
Tom was a man of many talents, having earned an Associate of Science Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Design. He dedicated 27 years of his life to United Airlines, where he received numerous awards for his outstanding work in design and drafting.
Known for his trustworthy and honest nature, Tom was a loyal friend and a reliable presence in the lives of those around him. His kindness and generosity touched the hearts of many.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed reading and traveling. He had a passion for learning about different cultures and histories, often traveling to a new country each year to expand his knowledge and appreciation for architectural design. His love for family was evident in his frequent attendance at family events and reunions.
Tom had a deep interest in World War II history and was known for his vast knowledge on the subject. He could answer any trivia question related to the war, showcasing his passion for learning and understanding the past.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and a thirst for knowledge. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest in peace.
