Born and raised in Elmhurst, Illinois, Tom and his parents moved to Arizona, where he attended Arizona State University. He earned his BS in Education and taught mathematics at Powell Junior High in Mesa, Arizona, where he impacted the lives of countless youth for nearly thirty years. Tom proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, and after being honorably discharged, continued to serve in the United States Army Reserve, retiring as a Master Sergeant after decades of service in support of his country.
Tom was an avid college football and basketball fan, and one of his favorite events was the annual NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments.
