Thomas (Tom) John Halliday passed away on January 8, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.

Tom was born September 9, 1940, in Santa Monica, CA, to Howard Shipley Halliday and Norma Wood Halliday. The family later moved to Roy, Utah, where he met wonderful life-long friends.

Tom graduated from Weber High School in 1958 and served an LDS mission in the Germany/ Austria Mission. He later earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Weber College. He worked in the construction business, starting his career with Max Oliver and Ray Alvey, both of whom were outstanding mentors. He also worked for several years with Ted Holtry. He later started his own company, Tom Halliday Construction, Inc. He was a member of the Weber Basin Homebuilders Association for many years and served as the president in 1977. He entered his first Parade of Homes in 1977, where he was awarded the People's Choice Award. Tom taught construction for 25 years at the Ogden ATC, where he was actively involved in leading VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America), and he worked with Ogden City to build the small houses for the Ogden Christmas Village. Upon his retirement, he worked for the Ogden Community Foundation, former Mayor Matthew Godfrey, Royal Eccles, and the OCF Board, remodeling and building homes around Ogden City.

He married Elaine Parisi on August 1, 1966, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They raised their family in Roy and Eden, Utah.

Tom was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served in whatever calling he was asked, from the nursery to choir director, but most of his time was spent serving the youth, which he loved the most.

Tom loved his family and spent as much time as possible at their property in Island Park.

Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine, Eden, UT; children: Shellie (Matt) Drake, Troy (Nicki) Halliday, Kimberlee (Blaine) Monkres, and Nate (Haylie) Halliday, sister-in-law Marcia Parisi, and sister-in-law Ann Halliday. He was loved and adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lael Halliday, brother Dee Halliday, sister Mary Ann Halliday Dallinga, brother-in-law Dennis Dallinga, father-in-law Silvio Parisi, mother-in-law Alma Parisi, brother-in-law Jack Iacovelli, and son-in-law Cody Cazier.

Tom was deeply loved by his family and community. The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers throughout the last couple of years. Thank you to Dr. Glen Biddulph, Atlas Homecare, Sunflower Assisted Living, and Active Hospice Care for the wonderful care provided to Tom.
