Thomas A. “T.A.” Harman, Sr. 87 of West Columbia passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Gloria Faye Harman, his parents, Marchant M. Harman, Sr. and Evelyn Kannaday Harman Brother, Marchant A. “Doodle” Harman, Jr. and sister-in-law Nancy Harman.
T.A. was born in Columbia, South Carolina. He was a lifetime member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church and retired from Sherwan-Williams and for many years he owned and operated Harman’s Food and Fuel, a beloved gathering place where friends and neighbors took time to connect. T.A. was a member and past treasurer of Pineview Ruritan Club and was longtime employee of Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service and an integral part of its success early on. T.A. loved to spend time outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing with his son. The family is forever grateful for the compassionate and professional care provided by VIA Hospice, in particular Rebecca, Jennifer and Lisa who were instrumental in making his journey a smooth one.
T.A. is survived by his son, Thomas A. “Al” Harman, Jr. and his wife Lisa; granddaughter, Megan; Brother, Claude Harman, sister-in-law, Sue Harman, niece, Lisa, (Tommy) McCants and nephews Scott Harman and Chip (April) Harman.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday August 30, 2025 at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
