Thomas Eugene Hunter

Thomas Eugene "Skip" Hunter, son of Odell Stowers (Lydia), and the late Mary Ann Hunter, was born on June 13, 1959, in Anderson County, South Carolina. Thomas peacefully departed this life after a long illness on December 30, 2025, and went on to take his place singing in the Heavenly Choir.
Thomas graduated from Pendelton High School in Pendelton, SC class of 1977. He continued his education at Tri County Tech to receive his Associates Degree. After graduating, he went on to work at Duke Energy for a devoted 38 years.
Thomas was a devoted man of God, loving family patriarch and was a man whose faith and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He dedicated his life to ministry and served as a deacon by Piney Grove Baptist Church. He also served as a faithful servant of the Anderson County Brotherhood where he helped train other gentlemen to have a closer walk with Christ and continue their education beyond high school. Thomas truly enjoyed helping others in any shape, form or fashion.
Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Hunter, grandmother Emma Ruth Hunter, great grandfather Walter Webb, infant brother Bart Dendy, and brother Johnny Stowers.
Thomas leaves a profound legacy of love and faith to his family, who will grieve for him deeply: His son, Mitchell Hunter; and his devoted daughter, Chelsy (Nigel) Lee, devoted and loving aunt Pearlie Sadler and Uncle Eric Goin; granddaughters Amelia, Laila, Eden, Emery and Lia; Grandson Quentin; sisters Linda McCamery, Pastor Claudine (Bishop Alvin) Valentine, Marie (Robert)Thomas, Robbie Dendy; brothers Odis (Karen) Stowers, Pastor Sam Stowers, Bret Dendy,. Thomas also leaves behind a host of other admiring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, coworker, friends and all those who became family and affectionately called him "Uncle Skip."
