Thomas Lewis, Jr. Obituary

Thomas W. “Tom” Lewis, Jr., age 78, died unexpectedly at Cedar View Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center on Sunday, December 28, 2025 after a period of declining heath. He was the husband of his beloved wife Charlene D. (Hamel) Lewis, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

He was born in the Bronx, New York on February 25, 1947 and was a son of the late Estelle D. (Laurin) and Thomas W. Lewis, Sr. Tom worked for more than two decades as a machine shop manager for Permag in Billerica and as a machinist at Microwave Engineering, Corp. in North Andover until his retirement.

Tom was a life-long NY Giants fan, a fisherman and a man who never shied away from sharing his opinion whether you asked for it or not. Stubborn, blunt and occasionally crude, he was also loving in his own way and endlessly memorable. Tom will be remembered for his unwavering opinions and the unmistakeable space he filled in every room he entered.

He raised his family on Christian Hill in Lowell for most of his adulthood. In retirement, he settled in Sandown, NH with Charlene, enjoying a quieter pace of life, though his colorful commentary remained as strong as ever.

In addition to his wife, Charlene, Tom is survived by his two sons, Keith Lewis and his wife, Melissa of Yarmouth Port, MA and Randy Lewis and his partner, Jill Laferriere of Center Barnstead, NH; his three granddaughters, Kaitlyn Lewis, Rebbeca Lewis and Elizabeth Lewis; his four brothers, Craig “Barney” Lewis, Allan “Archie” Lewis, Barry Lewis and Roy Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Massullo and Joyce Dupont and a brother-in-law, Paul Hamel.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tom’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 10 until 11:30 AM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His funeral service will be celebrated immediately in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
