Thomas was born November 23, 1949, in Sheridan, Michigan to the late Lloyd and Lillian (Schultz) Macklem. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1967 – 1970 and retired as a truck driver for Koenig. Thomas moved north to Ossineke in 2001. He married the love of his life, Marion Januchowski, on July 4, 2002.
Surviving are his wife, Marion; son, Thomas (Christine) Macklem Jr.; two stepsons, Jeff (Jayne) Carriveau, PJ (Kathy) Carriveau; two stepdaughters, Theresa Kujawski, Kimberly (Ron) Townsend; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Flippo, Bette (Jim) Stogdill; sister-in-law, Dee Macklem; and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Scott Kujawski, Sr.; siblings, Robert Macklem, Lloyd (Bud) Macklem; and brother-in-law, Ernie Flippo.
Memorial visitation will take place Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Bannan Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the memorial service at 4 p.m. with Deacon Michael Roy officiating. Military honors will be accorded him Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
