Nancy J. (Ross) Macklem, 91, of Beaverton, passed away on February 10, 2026. Born on August 10, 1934, she was the daughter of Walter and Virginia Ross. On February 21, 1959, Nancy married Edward Gale Macklem at the First Presbyterian Church of Beaverton. They shared 28 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 10, 1985.
Nancy was a proud graduate of Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, and later received her Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University.
After returning to Beaverton, Nancy taught high school accounting and business at Beaverton High School, where she influenced generations of students and had a profound impact on the school’s business education department until her retirement in June 1997.
A lifelong and devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church, Nancy’s roots in the congregation stretched back to her grandparents, the Ross family, who were among its founders. She faithfully served as treasurer and church elder for more than 30 years.
Nancy was the last of the founding Ross family name residing in Beaverton and was deeply passionate about preserving the family’s and community’s history. A member of the Beaverton Historical Society, she curated many photographs and historical items, many of which are displayed at the BAC.
She is survived by her son Mark Macklem of Leesburg, Florida, and her daughter Cindy (Jeff) Hubble of Beaverton; grandsons Jordan (Katie) Mercer, Joshua (Morgan) Mercer, both of Beaverton, and Travis Macklem of Florida. She was a beloved “GG” to her five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Macey, Miley, Maddox, and Julian, all of whom she adored.
Nancy is also survived by cousins who were like brothers: Joe (Jean) Paulus of Williamsburg, Virginia; Ross (Jean) Paulus of Germantown, Wisconsin; and Phil (Sandy) Paulus of Bay City, Michigan. Additional survivors include brother-in-law Bill Macklem of Flint, Michigan, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth Macklem of Manistique, Michigan, and Shirley Crawford of Gladwin, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Gale Macklem, her parents Walter and Virginia Ross, infant son David, her special aunt Marian Paulus, and step-grandson Christopher Hubble.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Beaverton. Visitation will take place on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Beaverton from 3:00 – 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Beaverton or Toni and Trish House of Auburn.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to The Care Team and Toni and Trish House for their support and care during Nancy’s final journey.
