Thomas Graybeale Maxwell

Thomas Graybeale Maxwell, 81, of Appomattox, died Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Evangelin "Lin" Arthur Maxwell.

Born in Appomattox County, Va., he was a son of the late Graydon C. Maxwell, Sr. and Lucille Ramsey Maxwell. He retired from B & W after 38 years of service. Tom was a member of Appomattox United Methodist Church and a UVA fan.

He is survived by three children, Kim Maxwell-Jones and husband, Chris, Thomas Christopher Maxwell and wife, Lauren, and Whitney Maxwell; six grandchildren, Alexis Maxwell-Jones Ottey and husband, R. J., Tristan Maxwell-Jones, Sutter Maxwell, Lane Maxwell, Ellery Sullivan, and Noah Jones; a great-grandson, Abraham Ottey; two brothers, Rev. Wilbur G. Maxwell and wife, Dot of Pageland, S.C. and Robert A. Maxwell of Appomattox; a sister, Mary Layne of Charlotte C.H.; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Maxwell and Mildred Maxwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, William Forrest Maxwell, Joseph Maxwell, Graydon Maxwell, Jr., Douglas M. Maxwell, and Barry Gray Maxwell; and two sisters, Marie Maxwell and Virginia Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dr. Kye Moo Ryu and Rev. David Drinkard. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
