Thomas James McDonald

Thomas James McDonald, born on March 11, 1987, in Philadelphia, PA, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Jacksonville, NC, at the age of 38. He was a beloved fiancé, son, father, and friend to many.

Thomas spent his working life as a Concessionaire, particularly on the midway in the balloon games, dedicating two decades to the vibrant and ever-changing world of the Carnival circuit. His career allowed him to explore different towns and cities, indulging his love for travel and adventure.

An avid fan of the Denver Broncos, Thomas also enjoyed sports video games, particularly Madden football. His enthusiasm for these pastimes was evident to those who knew him well. Whether he was cheering on his favorite team or exploring a new city, Thomas embraced life with joy and curiosity. He was known by his friends as "Newport", a nickname given out of their love for him.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Thomas cherished spending time with his fiancée, Shannon Hinkle. His carnival family was his cornerstone, and his friendships were deeply valued. He shared a special bond with his large carnival family, who accompanied him through times of laughter, celebration, and tears over the years.

Thomas is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Rosenberg. He is survived by his fiancée Shannon Hinkle of the home; his son, Derek; his father, Leroy Michael Fuss of Philadelphia, PA; his uncle, Michael Fuss; and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. The love and memories he shared will endure in many hearts forever.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Thomas James McDonald will be announced in Pennsylvania at a later date. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
