Thomas A. Minzenberger

Thomas A. Minzenberger "Tommy", age 61, of Highland Park, Illinois, passed away on December 30, 2025.
Tommy was born on November 6, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, to Tom and Grainne Minzenberger, and grew up in Lake Bluff, Illinois. He attended Lake Forest High School and later went on to Southern Illinois University.
An excellent athlete, Tommy was a talented baseball player who played from grade school through high school and later continued playing softball as an adult. Along with his love for baseball, he also excelled at soccer, playing all four years in high school and serving as a key player on the varsity squad. In his early twenties he volunteered on the Knollwood Fire Department for a short time. He also enjoyed woodworking and took pride in making furniture with his own hands. Music was another passion of his, and he loved playing the guitar.
Tommy worked as an HVAC technician for over 35 years and was highly skilled at his craft. He took great pride in his work and was known for excelling in his trade.
Tommy lived life on his own terms and will be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He had a unique ability to make people laugh and was often the funniest person in the room, always ready with a clever turn of phrase.
Tommy never saw a vegetable that he thought was worth the time or effort, and he never met a dog he didn't adore. He loved the people in his life with total commitment. He was a great dad, a loyal friend, and a wonderful son, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Gretchen Minzenberger of Highland Park, Illinois; his son, William (Natalie) Minzenberger of Willowbrook, Illinois; his parents, Tom and Grainne Minzenberger of Wauconda, Illinois, formerly of Lake Bluff, Illinois; his brothers, Ed and Chuck Minzenberger; and his beloved dog, Leo.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm followed by short Memorial starting at 4:00 pm at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Road, Highland Park, IL. 60035. A private interment will take place at a later date.
