Thomas A. Morgan

Thomas A. Morgan of Bird Lake departed earth for God's great hunting ground on January 25, 2026. Papa was born a "firecracker" at Bird Lake on July 4, 1941.
Tom was a good timing man. He loved to hunt, fish, boat and twist a word. Known by many and loved by most, Tom traveled thousands of miles in the "General" while checking on his friends at "The Lake" and sharing a high ball. Tom's world of mischief, myth and mayhem are legendary. His life was happy and thrilling, whether he was; tracking a big buck through a swamp, fishing in Lake Michigan or Erie, hunting down a coon under the stars, busting a drift on a snowmobile, pulling a huge pike out of Bird Lake, burying a truck in the sand on the Outer Banks, captaining a houseboat in Florida, riding his Cushman motor scooter or socializing with his friends.
Tom treasured time spent with the Bird Lake gang, Pittsford School chums, Osseo Merchant teammates, Tip Up Festival sidekicks, euchre and bean bag toss pals, Pittsford League and Open golfers. The customers of Morgan's Welding were very confident in his considerable talents and welding skills.
Tom married Barbara Knapp in 1960, and they lived life to the fullest for the next 66 years.
Tom's wife Barbara, his sons, Phil (Yvonne) and Bill (Cindy) carry on the family legacy. Papa cherished his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces, especially Laurie Cook who helped care for Uncle Tom until his passing.
Tom was the last surviving child of Philomene and Archie Morgan. Brothers, Bob and Richard Morgan, sisters, Bernadine Struble and Roberta Parney, stepdad, Claude Julian, in-laws, Andy and Rose Knapp, faithful dog, Boomer, and countless loved ones, shoved open the gates of Heaven to welcome Tom home.
A party celebrating Tom's 85th birthday and our country's 250th jubilee will be held on the 4th of July 2026 at Bill and Cindy's home located at 5811 Bird Lake Rd. Osseo, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, The Hospice of Hillsdale and Hillsdale County Conservation Club.
