Thomas Mulford Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 24, 2024.
MULFORD, THOMAS WEBB, formerly of Northville, joined the angels on Friday, October 18. He was born in Salem, Ohio, on March 14, 1936. Tom was predeceased by Hedwig (Hedi), his wife of 23 years, his parents, John and Priscilla Mulford, and his older brother, John Mulford. He is survived by a niece and two nephews. Tom spent the last four years of his life at American House, Grosse Pointe, where he was cared for by his faithful friend, Pamela Sharrow.
He graduated from Salem High School, received a BA at Duke University, and a Masters of Library Science at Syracuse University. He worked as a research librarian for many years at the Detroit Library on Woodward Ave. Because Hedi was from Germany, they went there every year to visit her relatives. They enjoyed theatre, music, and the arts. They joined Fort Street Presbyterian Church in 1992 where they participated in weekly worship and many other committees and activities. Tom was always head usher for the annual Messiah performance.
Inurnment will be at Fort Street Presbyterian Church. Donations in his memory can be made to Fort Street Chorale (call 313-938-3303) or Hospice of Michigan.

I had the privileges of being Tom' private duty nurse weekday afternoons for 3 years while he was at American House. He was definitely a favorite of the aides that worked for AH as well as the kitchen staff. He had stories and jokes even in his last days. He's at peace now and will forever be a wonderful memory for me.
