Thomas Francis O'Connor Jr. of Pomona N.Y. passed away at home on March 23, 2025. Born May 27, 1938 to Thomas Francis O'Connor and his wife Mary (Dillon) in Yonkers, N.Y. Tom grew up in The Bronx, N.Y. and attended St. Frances of Rome School...then attended Iona Prep and Iona College. He then joined the United States Air Force and soon was stationed in Saudi Arabia. Afterward, he worked as an auditor at Morgan Guaranty before he joined the Fire Department of New York City. After 26 years serving in the FDNY, Thomas retired as a firefighter with Ladder Company 27 in the Bronx. Tom loved his New York Yankees, the New York Giants, as well as golfing, fishing, and taking trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with his brother Kevin and Miami, Florida where he often visited and vacationed with his niece, Stacey. Thomas is survived by his brother Kevin O'Connor, sister Roberta Benvenuto (Stephen), nephew Michael O'Connor, and niece & goddaughter Stacey Benvenuto, as well as many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by Thomas Francis O'Connor III.
Visitation for Thomas will be held Sunday April 6, 2025 from 2pm-6pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home at 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville N.Y.
A Graveside ceremony will be performed for Thomas on Monday April 7, 2025 at 11am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y. 10532
