Thomas J. O'Shea, Sr., 89, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Mashpee, MA surrounded by family. He is the beloved husband of Anneliese (Meixner) O'Shea with whom he shared 66 wonderful years together.

Tom was born January 16, 1936 in Poughkeepsie, NY, and was the son of John P. O'Shea Sr. and Mildred Galbraith O'Shea. Tom met the love of his life, Anneliese Meixner O'Shea, at Poughkeepsie High School, and the couple were married on May 23, 1959. Tom and Anneliese raised their family in Latham, NY and later moved to Schenectady, NY. Tom was an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and served on several parish committees. He was also active in youth sports, spending numerous years coaching his two sons in Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. Tom and Anneliese attended RPI hockey games for many years with friends and enjoyed going on cruises and traveling around the world. Memorable trips included visits to Ireland, Germany, the Panama Canal, and Alaska. They collected magnets for every place that they visited. Tom especially loved sharing Disney World magic with his grandchildren. He was an avid NY Giants football and Boston Red Sox baseball fan and enjoyed attending games. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and kept a detailed family tree. Tom had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed a good Manhattan, and never turned down an opportunity to entertain or attend a party.

Tom worked for a time with his father in the family business, O'Shea Electric, before attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY on an ROTC scholarship. He majored in Building Construction and Structural Engineering and graduated from RPI in 1958. In 1959, Tom entered the US Army as a Lieutenant. After training at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, he served as an Artillery O cer in Korea. Tom left the Army in 1961 as a First Lieutenant and served time in the Reserve. He was proud to serve his country.

In 1961, Tom and Anneliese relocated to Albany, NY, where he worked as a Structural Engineer with the NYS DPW, Division of Architecture. In 1964, he joined the Structural Consulting firm of John T. Percy & Associates, where he worked until 1981. During that time Tom designed structural systems for schools, o ce buildings, civic projects, commercial developments, and complex industrial applications. He participated in numerous engineering organizations, served on the board and as President of the Eastern New York Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), and also authored an article for the ACI national Engineering Journal. In 1981, Tom joined the firm of Stetson Dale, Architects and Engineers (later Stetson Harza) and participated in opening their new o ces in East Greenbush, NY. He served as Senior Structural Engineer and later Vice President and o ce manager. While working with Stetson, Tom became involved with the design of Exterior Maintenance (suspended scaffolding) Systems for the maintenance and window cleaning of high-rise building enclosures.

In 1994, Tom started his own firm, Entek Engineering PLLC in Troy, NY, primarily to advance the maintenance equipment design business. His client base grew to include the foremost architectural firms in the US, and elsewhere. Eventually his projects numbered over 800 medium and high-rise buildings, reaching heights of over 100 floors, in most major US cities, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. He served on the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) committees for writing safety and operating standards. He contributed to the drafting of the Federal OSHA regulations for this specialty and was recognized as an expert for court appearances on accident and death cases, based upon his knowledge of state and federal standards in this field. He retired in 2009 and took immense pride in his accomplishments. When he traveled with family and friends, he loved to point out window washers on skyscrapers and tell stories about unique equipment that he designed.

Tom and Anneliese moved to The Villages, Florida in 2012. Tom loved the sunshine, and the community feel of The Villages, where he enjoyed many years of golf and activities with wonderful neighbors and friends. He participated in various clubs including the Red Sox club, the Veteran's club, the German club and Irish American club. Recently Tom and Anneliese moved to Mashpee, MA to be close to family, and he spent his final days surrounded by loved ones.

Tom is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anneliese Meixner O'Shea; his daughter, Maureen (Peter) Knowlton; two sons, Thomas Jr. (Lynn) O'Shea, and Gregory (Tracey) O'Shea; his eight grandchildren, Erin Knowlton, Christopher Knowlton, Malorie Knowlton, Jack O'Shea, Molly O'Shea, Megan O'Shea, Alyson O'Shea, and Ryan O'Shea; his great-granddaughter, Anneliese Brown, who brought him immense joy over the past two years; and his brother E. Richard (Catherine) O'Shea. He is predeceased by his parents, John P. O'Shea, Sr.. and Mildred Galbraith O'Shea; and his siblings John P. O'Shea, Jr., James O'Shea, and Marilyn Johnson.
