John Silva Obituary
Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late John C. and Caroline Silva and graduated from Wareham High School.
Mr. Silva served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years, prior to serving in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He served in Vietnam, and also in support of Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield. He received several medals including, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon, Good Conduct medal, Air Force and Marine Corps Good Conduct medals, Southwest Asia Service medal, and Air Force Outstanding Unit award. He retired from the Air Force in 1994.
After his military service, Mr. Silva worked as alarm technician and electrician for Rebel Sound Systems for 19 years, retiring in 2015. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima in Biloxi, MS and enjoyed NASCAR racing.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Remedios "Remy" Silva of Biloxi, MS; his sons, Jay B. Silva and his wife Christy of Smithfield, VA and James "Brylle" Silva and his wife Rebecca of New York City, NY; his siblings, Ann Andrade of Wareham, Geri Baptiste of Onset, Joyce Veiga of W. Wareham, Caroline Roderick of Marshfield, Priscilla Peluso of Sacramento, CA, Eleanor Leonard of Middleboro, Cheryl Tanzi of Middleboro, Jack Silva of Wareham, Richard "Rick" Silva of RI, Steve Silva of Barnstable, Laurie Wallace of Gulfport, MS and Debra Fox of Smithfield, VA. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren. John was predeceased by his sister, the late Betsy Cardoza.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 – 7 PM. Funeral will be from the funeral home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 94 High St., Wareham at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
