Joann R. Senna

WAREHAM - Joann R Senna (Souza), 85, of Onset, died Tuesday, August 19th at St Luke's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 16, 1940 in Wareham, a longtime resident of Onset, Joann was the daughter of the late Mary Belmarce of Cape Verde and Adelino Souza of Rhode Island.

She was a graduate of Wareham High School. She discovered her passion for hair styling and owned and operated her own hair salon called the "Beauty Korner" located in Onset. Outside of her career, she found joy in designing wedding cakes, knitting, shopping, playing bingo, casino trips, volunteering at the polls, and having "Nana's Day!" She lovingly helped raise her grandchildren, always putting their needs first and filling their days with laughter, love, and homemade meals. Joann was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Her perseverance, empathy, and kindness touched everyone who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Joann is survived by her son David Senna of Onset, Leo Senna of Onset, son-in-law Kent Silva of New Bedford; her grandchildren Joann Andrade of Wareham, Matthew Frizado of Taunton, Courtney Pina of Fall River, Lauren Senna of Framingham, Leo Senna Jr of New Bedford, Kylie Silva of Somerset, Curtis Chandler of Maine, KJ Silva of New Bedford; her great-grandchildren Dylan Hapenny of New Bedford, Alyssa Andrade of Wareham, Corday Hamiliton of Fall River, Madison Frizado of Taunton, Curtis Chandler V of Plymouth, Gracelynn Chandler of Plymouth, Amiyah Vega of Fall River, Jalyssa Vega of Fall River, and Paisley Chandler of Plymouth.

She is predeceased by her daughter Mary-Lynn Senna of Onset; her brothers Joseph Souza of Virginia, and Thomas Souza of Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. A memorial service will follow at 7:00pm.

Joann loved the color purple; wearing "something purple" is encouraged.
