Thomas Oberg, aged 70, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024 surrounded by his favorite people. He was the most devoted husband and loving father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on December 22, 1953 in Minneapolis, Tom was the wild middle child of Bertel and Antoinette Oberg. Growing up in a big Greek family in Richfield and Mound, MN, he later went on to become a cartoonist, creative director, and partner at a leading Twin Cities advertising agency. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, creative thinking, humor, charisma, problem solving, and expertise.
More than anything, Tom was dedicated to his family. He met the love of his life, Ardyce, and they were together for nearly 50 happy years. They were best friends whose days were filled with laughter, joy, and Ardyce's baked goods.
He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement to his three children, entertaining those around him with his jokes, piano playing, and juggling. He loved driving his boat on the St. Croix River, listening to the Beatles, exploring the Black Hills, inventing, creating art of all kinds, fixing everything around his home, teaching his dogs crowd-pleasing tricks, and setting up the best Christmas decorations. He was eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others, especially his grandsons, whether he had a basketball, ping pong paddle, or drawing pencil in his hand. His generosity knew no bounds, always putting the needs of others ahead of his own.
Tom is survived by his wonderful wife Ardyce, his children Jonathan, Annie (Pat), Rebecca (Nick), his grandchildren James, Danny, and Liam, his siblings Charles (Linda) and Susan (Hans), many beloved nieces and nephews, his dog Molly, and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly. His memory, kind heart, and youthful spirit will be cherished. From now on he will be here, there, and everywhere.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local children's charity.
