Tom was born on October 15th, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pa to John and Margaret Ryan. He attended St Edwards Elementary School and Dobbins High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959-1965. After his Naval service Tom worked as a baker at Michael's Bakery, Rillings Bakery and Termini Brothers.
In December of 1963 Tom met the love of his life, Barbara. They were married in September of 1965. Together they raised three sons and traveled near and far. They visited 47 states, went on numerous cruises and hundreds if not thousands of day trips over their 60 plus years. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and adored his grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings John (Rita), Francis (Mary), James (Ruth), Molly, Lorraine Orsini (John), and Michael (Kathy).
Thomas is survived by his loving wife Barbara (nee Schrumpf), their children Thomas Jr. (Katie), David (Colleen) and Joseph (Nancy) and his grandchildren James, Samantha, RJ and Rebecca, in addition to his sister, Trudy Tupponce (Al)
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, May 19th from 9 to 11am at Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Interment with Honors will take place Tuesday, May 20th, precisely at 10am at the Washington's Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

Thomas, you failed to make your battle stations during general quarters. You are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final departure. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate.
