Thomas Salb Obituary

Thomas Walter Salb III, 70, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024. He was born on July 14, 1954, in Washington DC, to Thomas Walter Salb II and Geraldine Ann Salb. He married his wife, Elaine, in 1979 and had two children, Erin and T.J. They moved to Damascus, MD in 1985 and he became a beloved member of the community through coaching wrestling, football, baseball, and softball. He also was a wrestling referee in Montgomery County, MD for 25 years. He worked his way up in the construction community, eventually becoming a Senior Project Manager for most of his career. When he wasn't working or coaching, his passions were daily workouts and competing in football and softball. He loved the beach and he and his wife made yearly visits to Key West, FL and eventually bought a condo in Lewes, DE. But his greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his family both on and off the sports fields. In later years he became Popie to 6 grandchildren who he adored and lovingly teased incessantly. He will always be remembered for his unique personality, dedication to his health, and love of life. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughter Erin (John) Staiger; a son Thomas Walter (Kelly) Salb IV; an older sister, Stephanie (Jim) Salb (Vaughn); and 6 grandchildren (Ryan, Marleigh, Savannah, Olivia, Thomas, and Gretchen). Family, friends, and others are invited to a celebration of life at Thatcher's Run Farm (10401 Moxley Rd., Damascus, MD 20872), from 3 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, September 7, to reminisce and honor the life of Tom.
