Thomas M. Scheirer

Thomas M. Scheirer, age 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2023, after battling cancer for a year. He was born on September 20, 1949, in Peoria, IL., to the late Melvin and the late Marie, nee Harrell. He married his loving wife, Carol, nee Ogurkiewicz, after meeting over 50 years ago at Illinois State University. They married on October 5, 1974. Tom is survived by his three sons, his pride and joy, Jeffrey, Andrew (Kristin), and Daniel (Alexis); and his next pride and joy and true loves are his grandchildren Ava, Jake, Ryan, Luke, and Dylan. Dear brother of Ron (Linda), the late Dick (Mary), and the late Nick (the late Bonnie) Scheirer; fond brother-in-law of Gary (Paula) Ogurkiewicz. Tom was an independent insurance salesman for over 45 years, and qualified in top sales, earning him and Carol trips to Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Bahamas, and Las Vegas. He enjoyed coaching and playing sports with his three sons for many years. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and taking them on special outings. Tom especially enjoyed planting his spring flowers all over the front yard and the entire deck. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Tom was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for over 40 years. Visitation Friday 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. Visitation Saturday 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Modell Funeral Home.
