Thomas E. Schlotz passed away February 23, 2024 at the age of 93.  He was born April 25, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lawrence and Anna (Hankins) Schlotz.  Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Sally.  He is the loving father of Lynn, Steve (Denise), Jim (Kathy) and Lisa (Mike), proud grandfather of Michael, Cherilyn, Aaron, Bee, Anna, Tristan, Abra, Jared, Kevin, Christopher and Casey. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.

Thomas had a distinguished career at the Ford Motor Company where he was the Plant Manager at Windsor Casting.  He retired in 1989 after 30 years of service.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was in the Artillery Division during the Korean War. While attending Butler University he met the love of his life, Sally. They were later married and enjoyed 68 years together.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree there as well.

He loved horse racing and at one time he owned several trotter horses.  He raced them at the Northville track and Hazel Park as well as other tracks. Thomas also loved to play cards.  When he played with family he took no mercy on them. He  loved to cut his lawn. He was out cutting grass as recently as last October. Thomas had wonderful neighbors.  He referred to them as Team Tom.  Thomas was so appreciative and thankful for their help and so many kindnesses over the years.

A celebration of Thomas’s life will take place Wednesday, February 28, 2024, 5 PM, at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St. Plymouth. Friends are welcome to visit beginning at 4 PM until 7 PM.
