Thomas Schmidt Obituary
Tom served 6 years in the Army National Guard. He retired from head of maintenance at the Port of Indiana in Mt. Vernon. He was a member of the St. Matthews Parish, Lifetime member of the Elks, and the American Legion. Tom loved to go boating, fishing, and loved to travel.
Tom is survived by his wife, son, Rick (Nancy) Schmidt; daughters, Deborah (Arthur, Jr.) Ashworth and Susan Ledbetter; grandchildren, Brian Ashworth, Angela Valiant, Daniel Ledbetter, Summer Wright, Shawn Schmidt, Chelsea Schmidt, and Brock Schmidt; 9 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Schmidt.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand officiating. Burial will follow at St. Matthews Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 11:00 am until time of service. Memorials may be left to St. Matthews Church.
