Thomas Michael Shiner passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at age 62. Tom was born in Joliet, Illinois on December 8th,1961 to the late Rosella Shiner and Leo (Bud) Shiner, Sr. He was a lifelong Illinois resident until four years ago when he moved to Cape Coral, Florida with his loving wife of 40 years Diane (Gornik) Shiner to enjoy their lives together on the beach. He relished every beautiful Florida sunset with her until they turned in to sleep on Friday night. He spent the nights stargazing and enjoying the night sky tracking satellites and the international space station with the aid of the HeavensAbove app. Tom was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman at the Sportsman Club in South Wilmington. Tom was a retired union ironworker of 30 years with Local #444 where his son eventually joined him. He was extremely proud of his daughter in her career as a registered nurse and enjoyed swimming with his granddaughter. Tom's biggest joy was his family, who he loved fiercely. He was the beloved father of Steven (Katie) Shiner and Jillian (Joey) Manuele and the adoring grandfather of Dylan Manuele. Tom is also survived by his brothers Larry (Karen) Shiner and Leo, Jr. (Teree) Shiner and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Besides his parents, Tom is also preceded in death by his sister Pat (Shiner) Worst.
