Thomas Sluder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peeples Family Funeral Homes on Apr. 22, 2025.
Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Sluder Jr. of Dover, FL, was born on November 3, 1939 in Anderson, SC to Thomas Sluder Sr. and Lottice Langdale. He entered into eternal rest on April 4, 2025 in Jacksonville, FL. Tom was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 58 years, Judith "Judy" Sluder and their four children - Thomas III, Theresa, Keith and Kathryn - all of whom preceded him in death. He leaves behind his grandchildren - Brandon, Brandy, Keith Jr., Miranda, and Israel - as well as his great-grandchildren, extended family, and many cherished friends.
Tom was a dedicated and well-respected furniture salesman most of his life, and enjoyed golfing in his spare time. He was a devoted and cherished member of the First Presbyterian Church of Plant City for many years. Known for his warm smile, quick wit, and thoughtful insights, Tom had a unique way of making people both laugh and reflect. He touched many lives with his philosophical outlook on life. Tom's words, like his presence, encouraged those around him to slow down, observe more deeply, and listen with care. He will be remembered not only for what he said but for how he made others feel - loved, seen, and inspired. Among the many reflections he shared over the years, one of his final writings beautifully captures the essence of his wisdom and gentle nature:
"A wise old owl sat in a tree,
The more he looked, the more he could see...
The more he listened, the more he heard,
Why can't we be like that wise old bird?"
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Plant City, 404 West Reynolds Street, Plant City, FL on May 10, 2025 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Plant City.
May He Rest in Peace
