Tom loved to share stories of living and growing up in the community of Mount Healthy, Ohio, spending time on his grandparents' farm, playing quarterback with his brother playing wide receiver on the Mount Healthy football team. It brought him great joy to recall the game announcer saying, "Touchdown...that pass was from Springer to Springer!"
He was a member of Lakewood Church serving for many years as an usher. His compassion and love for others involved assisting in church and City of Houston food drives, helping individuals file their personal tax returns, being a Big Brother mentor, significant donations to the Star of Hope Ministry Mission, Houston Ballet and the Houston Symphony.
Tom loved playing golf so much so, that their home in Bentwater sat on the Miller course in Montgomery, TX. He and his wife played most, if not all, major golf courses in the United States including the Augusta National Golf Course, home of the Master's Golf Tournament. Tom loved music and his collection reflected his openness and acceptance of all people being inclusive of singers and musicians of all genres.
He will forever be remembered for his humility, great character, having the "correct" response for any question, his beautiful blue eyes, uncanny humor, soft hands, ticklish feet, and love for cherry pie.
