Thomas Alan Spurling Sr.

Thomas Alan Spurling Sr., age 69, passed away on Monday October 31, 2022 peacefully at home after a long, hard fought battle against leukemia. Tom, affectionately known as "Big Tom" was born at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH on October 9th, 1953. Tom was a 1971 graduate of Groveport Madison High School. Tom is preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Janieh Spurling, his mother Angela Kazee Geer and his stepfather Tom Geer. Tom is survived by his fiance, Trenna Stitt. Sons, Thomas (Melodie) Spurling Jr., Scott (Tressie) Spurling and Steven (Stephanie) Spurling. His grandchildren, Jordan, Mia, Jessie, Jenna, Brandon, Delilah, Lana and Elijah. Tom is also survived by his brother Tracy (Sandra) Tall and his sisters, Terry Boone, Tamara (Joe) McGinn, Toni Clark and Kay-Cee Cruzen. His uncle Manny Kazee, who was like a father to him and his aunt Nora Cooke. His stepbrother Bill Tall and stepsister Mary Adams. The mother of his children, Debra Spurling. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved four legged "baby" Maggie. Tom was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds fan. He loved fishing, golf, euchre and blackjack. He had a quick wit and amazing personality and always lit up every room he was in. Tom never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh. He was able to make everyone in his life feel loved and important. He cherished his kids and grandchildren and enjoyed watching them in the events they loved to do. Service for Tom will be held at the Myers-Woodyard Funeral Home in Groveport Ohio. Calling hours will be Friday November 11th from 4pm-6pm with a service following at 6pm. The family is requesting you come in casual dress or in support of one of Tom's favorite sports team.
