Thomas E. Stuetz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud American, of
White Plains, NY, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on New Year's Day in 1938 in Newark, New Jersey, Tom was the son of the late Edwin and Elsie (née Koch) Stuetz. He grew up in Oakland, NJ, and graduated from Pompton Lakes High School in the Class of 1956. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Navy, proudly serving from 1956 to 1960. A true patriot, Tom's love for his country never waned, and he had a special admiration for American eagles-symbols of the freedom he held dear.
On June 26, 1965, Tom married the love of his life, Lois, in Morristown, NJ. Their union was a shining example of love, partnership, and faith. Together, they shared not only a beautiful life but also a ministry, guiding and preparing engaged couples for marriage through Pre-Cana programs.
Tom was a dedicated and hardworking man. He spent 30 years working for AT&T in White Plains and later continued his commitment to service as a maintenance man for the Post Office for 11 years. His colleagues fondly remember his warm presence, mechanical know-how, and the legendary moment he set the record for eating the most hot dogs at a Post Office BBQ.
An outdoorsman at heart, Tom cherished the quiet joys of hunting and fishing. He found great satisfaction in woodworking, mechanics, and fixing just about anything-his hands were rarely still. He was a man who offered not only solutions but also smiles. Known for his quick wit and good humor, Tom brought light and laughter wherever he went. And above all, he was famous for his warm, loving hugs that comforted and connected generations.
Tom believed in service to others, both in uniform and in his community. As a Scout Master, he inspired young minds and hearts with his leadership and steadfast spirit. He was also an enthusiastic collector of coins, stamps, and his favorite-eagles, which adorned his home and reflected his deep love of country.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Lois Stuetz; his four children: Brian (Edina), April, Wayne, and Paul; and his cherished grandchildren: James, Elise, and Samuel. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Stuetz (Roseann); his sister, Constance Lis; sisters-in-law, Catherine Stuetz, Marilyn Miller, and Beverly Smale; and his brother-in-law, David Dennish (Linda). Also surviving are many beloved nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Stuetz; and brothers-in-law, Edward Lis, Thomas Miller, and Raymond Smale and niece Theresa Lis.
