Thomas Swift Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moss-Norris Funeral Home - St. Charles on Sep. 24, 2024.
Thomas Lenwood Swift Jr., 88, of Batavia, Illinois, passed away on September 20, 2024. Born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, he was the son of Thomas Lenwood Swift Sr. and Alise Blanche (nee Childress).
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Thomas served in the Army for over 20 years. After retiring from the military, he dedicated more than 30 years to the Department of Defense, with significant time spent in South Korea, Japan, and Germany.
Known affectionately as "Buddy," Thomas enjoyed bike riding, scuba diving, and Tae Kwon Do, but golf held a special place in his heart. After retirement, he and his wife, Sung, settled in Elgin, Illinois, to be closer to their youngest daughter and her family. He cherished attending his grandson's sports activities and music performances during his retirement.
He is survived by his children: Christine (Richard) Long, Stephen (Kelly) Swift, and Susan (Peter) Katz; his sister Marie (Gerald) Dillon; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Sung Nae; his two sons, Jeffery and Robert; and his siblings, Leslie "Fitzhugh" Swift and Diane Harvey.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles, Illinois 60174. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. A committal service will take place at Union Cemetery, 1200 N 5th Ave, St. Charles, IL 60174.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation at t2t.org.

Our condolences to Tom´s family. He was a good man, and a good neighbor. We always enjoyed our conversations with Tom when he stopped by on his walks. And it was always fun golfing with him, and listening to his stories.
