Thomas William Washington, Sr., of Lowe, West Virginia, passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 92. Born to the late Edward and Vivian Washington, Thomas was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran who served as an Airman First Class during the Korean War, earning the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He met his wife Marva on a school bus in McComas, West Virginia, and they married in 1956 after six years of courtship. Together, they built a life in New Jersey, raising a family and remaining devoted to one another for 68 years. In 1969, they settled in Linden, NJ, where Thomas became a beloved neighbor, known for teaching local kids fishing and gardening, and for his famous homemade custard.
A passionate fan of boxing, wrestling, and westerns, Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by; his wife, Marva, two sons-in-law; and several siblings and in-laws.
He is survived by; his children, Thomas Jr. (Tonya), Karl Sr., Warren (Cynthia), James (Shauna) and Deidra; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and generosity that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery on July 18th at 1:30 PM. Friends will be received at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 Hwy 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, July 18th from 12NOON to 1 PM. Interment will take place following the graveside service.
