Thomas F. Wegener, age 77 of Colgate, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Friday, August 16, 2024, in his home, surrounded within the love and comfort of his family.
Tom was born on December 23, 1946, in Hartford, Wisconsin to Mildred J. (nee O'Connor) and Frank Wegener. He graduated from Hartford Union High School, class of 1965. Tom was united in marriage to Angela Wellhoefer and shared three daughters together. Tom was later united in marriage to Jean I. Schmit on August 23, 1980, at St. Mary's Church in Menomonee Falls, WI, and they shared a daughter and son. Tom was an operating engineer who was initiated into the Union on April 18, 1968. He was an excellent and safe-minded operator. Tom especially enjoyed running tower cranes. He worked for various construction companies over the years: Ideal Crane, Zimmerman Crane Rental, J.H. Findorff, KBS, Mortenson Construction, to name a few. Tom will be remembered for many things especially being an outdoorsman and being an avid hunter and fisherman.
Tom, loving husband of 43years to Jean; loving and devoted dad to Connie Ball, Bonnie Zehner, Mary Beth (Jason) Guenterberg, and Kyle (Melissa "Missy" Swenor);proud grandpa of Nathan, Stephen, Amber, Autumn, Ashley, Emily, Aaron, and Eric. He is further survived by 5 cherished great-grandchildren; dear brother, Le Roy H. Wegener; among many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, David W. (Carolyn) Wegener and Jeanette A. Adamzak; and infant daughter, Jennifer.
Funeral Services for Tom will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford, WI 53027. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m.-6:15 p.m.
Contributions in memory of Tom, in lieu of flowers, to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association, in care of his family are greatly appreciated.
