Thomas Wiese passed away on September 9, 2024. A long-time resident of Rose-Eld Road in Rosendale, he most recently resided at Tower View Assisted Living.
He was born July 29, 1947, in Beaver Dam, Wisc., to Lawrence (Anne) Wiese and Margaret (Holbach) Dockery. He lived most his young life in Waupun and graduated from Waupun High School in 1965. He proudly served our country in the US Army doing basic training in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and serving in Germany from 1965-1968.
He married Margaret Ruenger on January 3, 1970, and was blessed with two boys, John (Jodie) of Rosendale and Richard (Nicole) of Fond du Lac. His four grandchildren – Brandon, Brittany, Bray and Cal – brought him a lot of joy.
Tom worked at a number of places throughout his career including Berlin Seating and Carnation Can but spent most of his working life at Oshkosh Corp. from where he retired in January 2016. He enjoyed attending his kid’s and grandkid’s events, car racing, spending time in Door County, watching movies, and listening to Elvis, The Beatles and Johnny Cash. Tom provided a lot of entertainment at the grill at family events and enjoyed his card playing years with Jim and Mary Wiese, Dick and Jean Baehler and Laura and Leroy Rank. He was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church of Rosendale serving as team head usher and on the Christmas Committee.
In addition to his family listed above, Tom is survived by his brother-in-law, Richard (Jill) Ruenger; his sister-in-law, Mary (Jim) Gillett; his godsons, Doug Rank, Jeff Ruenger, Chris Wiese, Nathan Gillett and Keith Baehler; his goddaughter, Heidi Nitka; and his special step-brother, Ken (Dee) Nitka; half-siblings, Gail (Billy) Maynard and Lillie Warren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Fred; his in-laws, Gordon and Rachel (Friese) Ruenger; aunts and uncles.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12 noon with the service at 12 noon and burial following. Interment will be at Rosendale Cemetery. Military graveside honors will take place at the cemetery.
