Thomas Williams Obituary

Stonington - Thomas H. Williams, 54, of Stonington, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026. He was a loving father, husband and son. Tommy was devoted to his family.

He was the beloved husband of Sage (Morse) Williams; and proud father of Owen, Chase and Palmer Williams. He was also the devoted companion to his dog Jack. He was the son of Thomas E. Williams and Catherine Springer and stepson to Dean Springer and Kathleen Williams. He was the brother and best friend to Nathan (Amanda) and Aaron (Chelsea) Williams. He also leaves three nephews, Nathan, Andrew and Asher; two nieces, Avery and Madison. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Regan Morse; and brother-in-law Sam (Barbara); and nephews, Lucas and Lawless.

Tommy attended St. Pius X Elementary, Westerly High, graduating in 1989, where he was a captain of his baseball and football teams. Tommy graduated from Randolph-Macon College in Virginia where he was a wide receiver on the football team. He received his degree in business and his studies were also in international economics. After graduating, Tommy joined the family business and was a commercial fishermen for 28 years, and captain of the F/V Heritage.

As a third-generation fisherman, he was a dedicated advocate of the industry, serving on executive boards and participating in government research studies.

He was a friend to fishermen from Massachusetts to North Carolina.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Stonington.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main Street, Westerly, R.I. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at St. Mary's Church, 22 Broad Street, Stonington. Burial will be held privately.
