Thomas Lee Wright, 92, of Carmel, Indiana passed away June 30, 2024. He was born in Anderson, IN, to Albert Lee Wright and Martha Irene (Moneyhun) Wright on July 11, 1931. He grew up in Anderson on a farm. Tom and Joanna Crouch were married in 1951 and had 72 happy years together.
Tom graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor degree. He was soon called to active duty in the Army where he was the Signal officer at Fort Totten on Long Island, New York.
He began his career with Indiana Bell Telephone in Indianapolis, IN, and stayed with the phone company through several name changes to retire from AT&T. He then spent a few years teaching math at IVY Tech and volunteered at the Eiteljorg Museum for several years.
Tom’s primary interest was his family and their welfare. He was interested in genealogy, tracking all the branches of the family and making books for everyone.
Tom was one of the first to move into the Barrington of Carmel over 10 years ago and was active in many ways, in particular the workshop and the Great Courses programs.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Jeremy Bowman and Crystal (Bowman) Marshall Price. He is survived by his wife Joanna Clay (Crouch) Wright; his sister Katherine (Wright) Marsh: his children - Catherine Wright (Nancy Strack), Susan Wright Bowman Morgan, and William Wright (Ellen Fox); Grandchildren - John Wright (Allison Wootan), James Morgan (Alexis Elmore), Jo Morgan, and Jessica Morgan (Eric Beavers); ten Great grandchildren and one Great-great granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Barrington of Carmel Foundation or to the American Stroke Association.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 25 at 1:00pm at the Barrington of Carmel: 1335 S. Guilford Road, Carmel, IN 46032, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.
