Thomasine Sears Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Berkley Chapel on Jan. 3, 2026.
It is with great sadness that the family of Thomasine Sears announces her passing on December 29, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Thomasine was predeceased by her beloved parents, May Blossom Sears and Charles Sears; her siblings, Thomas Sears, James Sears, and Vernell Sears; and her grandson, Keith Sears.

Thomasine was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, and she retired from the medical field. She was an active member of Tents of Meetings Worship Ministry until her health declined.

Thomasine Sears was born in Norfolk, VA, on August 19, 1946. She was deeply devoted to her roles as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her steadfast dedication to both her family and the wider community touched countless lives. Those fortunate enough to know Thomasine recall her unwavering generosity and her loving spirit, which she shared freely with everyone around her. Her sense of humor and quick wit brought joy into every room she entered. Thomasine was not only celebrated for her remarkable cooking skills but also for her ability to light up any gathering with her dancing, often dancing the night away and creating cherished memories for all who joined her.

Throughout her life, Thomasine was recognized for her selflessness and compassion. She continually reached out to those in need, always willing to help without hesitation. Whether someone was hungry or in need of comfort, Thomasine ensured that they received the support they required. Her favorite saying was "I feed the needy, not the greedy." Her caring and nurturing character was evident in every act of kindness she performed, leaving a legacy of love and generosity that will be remembered by all who were touched by her presence.

Thomasine is survived by her loving children, Leonard Sears, William Sears, and Wanda Sears Bell. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Lamarr Arms, William Gilchrist, Lamarr Gilchrist, Champagne Bell, Onika Sears, and Cherry Bell. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Kaleb Gilchrist, Jayce Sears, Zuri Bell, Keith Bell, Brehlan Sears, and Nayla Blueford. She also has a special lifelong friend/sister, Gloria Lee Turner, and a special loving friend, Deborah Jones.
