ThongPheuak "Thong" Inthanongsak passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Binghamton, New York, at the age of 69. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and cultural advocate, she leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and devotion to her family and heritage.
Born on June 13, 1956, in Xe Kaman, Attapeu Province, Laos, Thong's early life was shaped by the beauty of her homeland and the strength of her family. Amidst the turmoil of civil war between the Lao Royal Army and Pathet Lao Communists, she made the courageous decision to flee with her loved ones to safety. In 1977, she immigrated to a refugee camp in Ubon, Thailand. Two years later, in July 1979, she arrived in Johnson City, New York-a new beginning that would mark the start of a remarkable journey in America.
Thong embraced her new life with determination and grace. As a lifelong Buddhist and devoted advocate for Lao culture in America, she became a pillar of strength within her community. Her passion for music found expression as the lead vocalist in two Lao cover bands-Vongnamjai and Noom Saiphong-where her love for singing and dancing brought joy to many.
At the heart of Thong's life was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband Khammanh Inthanongsak; daughters Joy Inthanongsak of Binghamton, NY and Cyndi Creller-Sysen of East Hartford, CT; son Jimmy Inthanongsak and daughter-in-law Colleen Inthanongsak of Corning, NY. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Andre, Khammaneh, Griffin and Maeson Weather; Owen and Abram Inthanongsak; Daimein, Deveon and Jakeob Tran; and Nataleena Moundraty. She also leaves behind her great-granddaughter Dayanette Tran.
Thong is remembered fondly by two sisters and two brothers residing in Laos. And one sister, Seng Siharath of Johnson City, NY. She was predeceased by her parents Khoutkeo and Bounlam ThongPhet; two sisters in Laos; and her grandson Dustsen Creller.
As matriarch of her family, Thong's strength guided generations. Her home was a place where tradition thrived-where stories were shared over meals rich with heritage and where music echoed with memories of Laos.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A traditional Buddhist funeral will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM at Allen Memorial Home, 511 East Main Street, Endicott, NY 13760. Cremation ceremony immediately following the service at Cayuga Crematorium in Dryden, NY.
