Thurmond Edward Moore

Thurmond Edward Moore, 67, of Weiner, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at St. Bernard’s Medical Center on November 1, 2025. He was born on April 5, 1958, in Holly Grove, Arkansas, to William Moore and Ora Lee Strong. Thurmond lived a blessed and fulfilling life.

A proud graduate of Weiner High School, Class of 1977, Thurmond went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Arkansas State University. He was a devoted member of the Church of God in Christ and an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time outdoors.

Thurmond was preceded in death by his mother, Ora Lee Strong.

He is survived by his beloved companion of 42 years, Otilla Golden; his brothers, Thomas Moore, Willie Moore, Larry Moore, Stanley Moore, James Moore, and Charles Coleman; his sister, Christine Shedrick; and a host of nieces and nephews who adored and loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8th, at Miller’s Temple Church in Jonesboro. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service conducted by Pastor Glen Conley, Sr. at 12:00 p.m. Final resting place will be at Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne, Arkansas, at a later date.

Honorary pallbearers include Thomas Moore Jr., Andre Shedrick, William Moore, and Rodney Moore.

Thurmond will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
