In Loving Memory of Tiburcio S. Gomez

November 20, 1942 – April 9, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Tiburcio S. Gomez on April 9, 2025, at the age of 82. Tiburcio was a devoted husband, a beloved father, a loyal friend, and a man of unwavering dedication and integrity.

Tiburcio is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Hermila G. Gomez, and his cherished sons, Abraham Gomez and Emmanuel Gomez. He is also remembered by his four children from his previous marriage to Consuelo Gomez. The four children Daniel Gomez, Sonia Gomez, David Gomez, and Evon Gomez. Following their separation and divorce in the 1970s, his four children were mostly raised by Consuelo Medina and Agustin Medina. Despite the circumstances, Tiburcio remained a supportive and loving father, fulfilling his paternal responsibilities and continuing to offer assistance to his children several year’s beyond their adult years.

A man of many talents, Tiburcio had a deep love for music. He found joy and peace in singing, and those fortunate enough to witness these moments will remember how his songs lifted spirits and brought light to any room.

Tiburcio’s life’s work and passion were rooted in agriculture. He began his remarkable 52-year career at Mayflower Farms Inc. in Arbuckle, California, on January 1, 1964. Starting in an entry-level position, he steadily rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as a Foreman of Mayflower Farms Inc. Through tireless effort, hands-on knowledge, and an unshakable work ethic, he became the cornerstone of farming operations at the company.

He was set to retire in 2008 at the age of 65, but at the personal request of his employer, Peter Bradford, Tiburcio graciously agreed to continue his work, adding eight more years of service to the company before they ended his Career on February 22, 2016. He dedicated over 218,000 hours of his life to farming while taking the role of a true Farmer and steward of the land, nurturing crops through 208 seasons. Tiburcio managed seed planting, irrigation, weed control, and harvesting across numerous crop varieties, including vegetables, grains, pasture feed, and alfalfa. In addition to mechanical, machine operator, welder and many more. His efforts consistently yielded abundant harvests, and he was widely recognized for his excellence, precision, and reliability in all he did.

In addition to his legacy in agriculture, Tiburcio was also an entrepreneur. In 2003, he partnered with his son Abraham to build and develop a real estate portfolio. Together, they successfully acquired and improved five properties: four single-family homes and a 10-acre parcel dedicated to alfalfa farming. These projects not only demonstrated his business acumen but also became a source of pride and growth Tiburcio and Abraham created for their family.

Never one to remain idle, Tiburcio continued his involvement in family projects well into his late 70s. In 2018, he enthusiastically helped his son Abraham establish The Farmhouse at Pocket a beautiful outdoor wedding venue that later transitioned into an Airbnb property. Always eager to lend his hand and wisdom, Tiburcio remained active and engaged in both work and family life.

Tiburcio’s life was a reflection of faith, perseverance, and purpose. He believed deeply in the value of hard work, the power of love, and the importance of family. He lived in unity with his wife Hermila and son Abraham, who supported him wholeheartedly, while his youngest son Emmanuel played an integral role in his life through consistent love and involvement.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and inspiration. Tiburcio’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends and colleagues who were blessed by his presence. His commitment to his career, his family, and his values serve as a reminder that with passion, faith, and perseverance, anything is possible.

In honor of his enduring spirit, may we carry forward his lessons: to work with love, live with purpose, and above all Never Give Up.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, April 24 from 5- 8PM and a funeral service on Friday, April 25 at 11AM at East Lawn Mortuary, 4300 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA. Burial immediately following at East Lawn Memorial Park.
