Our dear father, Timothy James Bounous,71, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Gordon, Nebraska. Tim was the third of six children born to Guy Louis Bounous and Berniece Iown (Bass) Bounous. He was born September 2, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas.
He graduated from Southeast High School in Wichita in 1970 and attended Wichita State University before transferring to Kansas State University and graduating with a degree in Ag. Business.
After working in the Kansas City area, he was invited by his college friend Steve Peddicord to work in the hayfields in western Nebraska. It was at this time he met the love of his life, Cheryl Jan Harris. They were married June 24th, 1978, at the Cross 5 Ranch in rural Bennett County, South Dakota. To this marriage three children were raised, Brandy Kay, Bradley James, and Kara Lindsey.
Tim was a very civic-oriented person. Tim lived in Gordon for 40 plus years. During this time, he served the community with great pride. For many years he coached youth baseball/softball. As an Eagle Scout he enjoyed serving as a Boy Scout leader. He volunteered for the Gordon Fire Department. He was a member of the Gordon Public Schools School Board. He served on the Housing Authority. At the time of his passing he was serving on the Gordon City Council.
Tim or “T-Bone”, as many people knew him, was a very honorable person. One of his proudest accomplishments was that he attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He lived by the motto, “Be Prepared”. His children can attest to that.
Tim will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the community; he will be remembered as an honorable, hard-working, loving husband, father and grandfather. He deeply missed Cheryl after her passing and the family takes comfort in knowing that they are together again.
Tim was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl; his parents Guy and Berniece, and his brother Bruce Howard. He is survived by his children Brandy Bounous, Bradley (Sara) Bounous, Kara (Adam) Harrison; Brothers Kent Bounous, Ben Bounous, Joel Bounous, and sister Becky (Dave) Bennett.
