Someone once said, "When life throws you a curveball, hit it out of the park" and that is just what he did. Timothy "Tim" Fred Hammitte, born June 22, 1970, was freed from ALS/FTD on Sunday, Nov 14, 2021 while at home, surrounded by "his team" and listening to his favorite music. ALS may have caused Tim to lose certain abilities but in what he lost, he also gained in exponential measure. His smile grew larger and the light in his eyes shone brighter.
While Tim captured the hearts of many, the joy of his life will always be his loving wife, Kerri and son, Brennan. Tim is also survived by his mother, Baerbel "Babs" Hammitte; sister Maxine (Mike) Cavins; father-in-law, Dennis Kalakay; brother-in-law, Derek Kalakay; nieces Isabella and Emerson; nephews Tyler and Daniel; many lifelong friends; and his unwavering caregiver, Vem. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Dave Hammitte and mother-in-law, Patty Kalakay.
Tim had an adventurous and fun-loving spirit. He loved Tigers games, music and concerts, spontaneous travel, action movies, home improvement projects, spending time with friends and family, and the occasional Yuengling. Tim was a proud alumni of Ferris State University, but above all he was an extremely proud family man.
To honor Tim and his life, we are hoping you will do some of Tim's favorite things; spending extra time with loved ones, giving of yourself freely to a good cause, being extraordinary for a day, while remembering.every moment matters.
Visitation will take place Saturday November 20, from 9 am until 11:30 am at Metro City Church - Riverview Campus on Fort Street. A service will take place at Metro City Church - Riverview Campus at 10:00 am. A celebration of life/ luncheon will take place at Comerica Park - Tigers Club on Saturday November 20, 2021 @ 1 pm. Burial will take place Sunday November 21 at 12pm at Michigan Memorial Park
