Tim Alan Peebles
Tuesday, May 17, 1955 – Sunday, April 27, 2025
Tim Alan Peebles, 69, of Troutman, North Carolina, died peacefully on April 27, 2025, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Ga.
Mr. Peebles was born in McRae, Georgia, on May 17, 1955. After graduating from Telfair County High School in McRae in 1973, he earned an A.S. at Brunswick Junior College in June 1975, and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Ga. Tech in Atlanta in 1979. At Ga. Tech, he was very involved with the Baptist Student Union, attended church throughout his life, and mentored to youth through boys' ministries in his church.
Mr. Peebles' career path led him to diverse mechanical engineering and management positions throughout the Southeast, including at U.S. Steel in Birmingham, Alabama; Unimin Corp in Troutman, North Carolina; and WS Nelson & Company in New Orleans, Louisianna, where he developed a taste for Cajun Jazz and Zydeco dancing. He retired from Consultant Industrial Methods in Troutman, North Carolina. A true engineer, Tim will be remembered for his endless desire to understand how the world works and a consequent ability to build or repair just about anything. But above all, he was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and father. He adored his daughter, Emily, with whom he shared his many interests, from mountain biking to modeling, from history to music. He ultimately passed to her a wide-ranging curiosity and the powerful belief that any wild dream is attainable, if you start with the right excel spreadsheet.
Mr. Peebles was preceded in death by his parents, E.H (Pete) and Geraldine Peebles of McRae, Georgia, and his brother-in-law, Michael Lariscy of Brunswick. He is survived by his daughter, Emily Peebles (Dmitrii), of North Carolina, and his sister, Pamela Lariscy, of Brunswick, GA. He is also survived by his nieces, Kellen Lariscy of Brunswick, Karmin Miller (Drew) of Acworth, GA, and Kandace McHargue of Brunswick. Additionally, he adored his great nephews and great niece, Easton McHargue, and Brantley and Sidney Miller.
A small graveside service will be held at Telfair Memorial Gardens on Sunday, May 4, at 2:00 p.m. Speakers include Reverend Kellen Lariscy, Officiant, and Mr. Peebles' daughter, Ms. Emily Peebles. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
