Timothy A. Capley

Timothy Alan Capley, known to all simply as Tim, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, under hospice care after facing cancer with quiet courage. He was 61.
Born on August 18, 1964, Tim was the first born and son of Shirley Faye Capley (Wilkerson) and the late N.B. Capley. He grew up in Shelbyville, where he was raised in Southside Baptist Church. After attending the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and later earning a degree in finance from Middle Tennessee State University, Tim built a steady career and a life rooted in family, friendship, and the simple joys he loved most.
Tim was happiest with a golf club in hand, a deck of cards on the table surrounded by friends, or while cheering on his favorite teams: the Tennessee Volunteers and Titans. He will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, his loyalty, and the way he found joy in both big moments and small gatherings.
Tim is survived by his children, Elizabeth Morgan Capley of Mt. Juliet and TN State Rep. Kipper Isaiah Capley of Summertown. Though life's circumstances sometimes kept them apart, his love for them always endured. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley of Shelbyville, whose steadfast presence was a source of comfort throughout his life; and by his sister, Wendee (Capley) Pendergrast, and her husband Michael, of Shelbyville, whose closeness and support were a constant. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Dana Anderson of Tullahoma. He is further survived by his nephews, Dr. Keaton Isaiah Pendergrast of Boston, MA, and Cason Malachi Pendergrast of Shelbyville, along with friends who will carry his memory forward.
Tim's memory will live on in the laughter around card tables, the quiet beauty of a golf course at dawn, and in the love of the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know to him.
Funeral services will be held 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Chilton officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held prior to funeral services on Saturday, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
